“The volume of Spring (number 28) of the journal of the Spanish Regional Science Association (AECR) Investigaciones Regionales is already available both on line (www.investigacionesregionales.com) and printable version. This last volume is a multidisciplinary compilation with papers both in spanish and english. It contains eight scientific-academic papers. Firstly, Alberdi, Gibaja and Parrilli – using multiple factor and cluster analyses – estimate the inner connectivity of Spanish regional innovation systems (RISs) making use of various surveys conducted by the INE and ASCRI. In the second paper, Santos and Simoes examine the concept of regional innovation systems against the background of modern theories of innovation and regional policies and discuss the structural barriers and opportunities to promote them. Elinbaum, through a multiple-case study of three plans, attempts to define the specificty of metropolitan planning tools.Aceytuno and Sanchez-López analyze the factors related to the academic and professional career that have influence over the propensity of university researchers to get involved into technology transfer activities. Jimenez, Ruiz and Peña analyze the relationship between rural tourism and tourism supply in Andalusian regional development. Pablo-Romero, Gomez-Calero and Cerro consider a production function obtained by the product of the total factor productivity and the total factor factor input by a translog function in order to estimate marginal product elasticities of productive factors for the Spanish NUTS3 regions. Cabello and Hidalgo carry out a study of efficiency in hospitals of the National Health Systema of the NUTS2 Spanish regions using DEA techniques. Finally, Pelegrini and Platino compares de degree of inequality in the spatial distribution of the Argentine manufacturing industry at regional and provincial levels between the years preceding and following the period from 1974 and 2002.
In addition to these eight research papers, the number 28 contains other paper. In it, Escriba and Murgui review and present the European regional database of economic indicators with disaggregated information in six sectors (BD.EURS) analyzing the quality and consistency of the different statistical soruces available on the basic macroeconomic variables at level NUTS2. A review of the book ‘La geografía y la economía en sus vinculos actuales: Una antología comentada del debate contemporáneo’ and other news on books and related journals are also contained in the Spring volume (28) of Investigaciones Regionales.

“El volumen de Primaver (número 28) de la revista de la Asociación Española de Ciencia Regional (AECR), Investigaciones Regionales, está ya disponible tanto en su versión en papel como a través de la web de la revista (www.investigacionesregionales.com). Dicho número se trata de un volumen interdisciplinar con artículos en castellano e inglés. Contiene ocho artículos de índole académico-científica. En el primero de ellos, Alberdi, Gibaja y Parrilli estiman la conectividad de los Sistemas Regionales de Innovación (SRI) españoles evaluando el fenómeno de la fragmentación explicada en término de fallos del sistema. En el segundo, Santos y Simoes examinan tambien el concepto de Sistemas de Innovación Regional pero en el contexto de las modernas teorías de la innovación y de las políticas regionales. Por su parte, Elinbaum, mediante el estudio comparado de tres casos, define la especificidad de los instrumentos de ordenación metropolitana. Aceytuno y Sánchez-López analizan los factores de la carrera profesional y académica que influyen sobre la propensión a transferir tecnología por parte de los investigadores universitarios. Jimenez, Ruíz y Peña analizan la incidencia de las zonas rurales sober las posibles tipologias del turismo rural en el caso de la región de Andalucía. Pablo-Romero, Gómez-Calero y Cerro estiman una función de producción obtenida a traves del producto de la productividad total de los factores y del input total de factores que viene dado, a su vez, por una función translogarítmica para cuatro factores productivos, para estimar la elasticidad del producto marginal de dichos inputs. Cabello e Hidalgo realizan un estudio de la eficiencia en los hospitales del Sistema Nacional de Salud por Comunidad Autónoma (CCAA) usando técnicas de Análisis Envolvente de Datos (DEA). Finalmente, Pelegrini y Platino comparan el grado de desigualdad en la distribución espacial de la industria manufacturera argentina a nivel regional y provincial entre los años anterior y posterior al periodo que va de 1974 a 2002.
Además de estos ocho artículos de investigación, el número 28 presenta un panorama. En él, Escribá y Murgui presentan la base de datos BD.EURS. La reseña sobre el libro “La geografía y la economía en sus vínculos actuales: Una antología comentada del debate contemporáneo“, así como otras noticias sobre libros y otras publicaciones y revistas relacionadas con el ámbito regional también se encuentran en el último número de Primavera (28) de la revista Investigaciones Regionales.
