The approval and implementation of Long Term Care Law has
opened a new field for public policies. According to this Law, the Regional Governments
will be in charge for offering the services needed. For this reason, it can
be adequate to know if the impact of this new service will be the same amongst all
the territories. This paper tries to estimate how many dependent people would have
the right to receive public aid in each Region and what their cost will be, not only
in the present moment but also in 2015. For that time, it is supposed that the public
system will be fully implemented.

a regional point of view, paying an especial attention to the especial case of the region of Madrid. Job satisfaction is a relevant matter, explaining some of the most
important outcomes of labour market. The quality of job is the main aspect setting
worker’s feeling about job. In this context, this paper pursuit several goals: First,

we are interested on relation between job quality and job satisfaction, explaining
the observed different between Madrid and the rest of Spain. Results point out that
Madrid has a high level of job quality but their workers show a less job satisfaction

This paper estimes the average effect of the Spanish Training
Schools Program on the period needed to find a job. Three methods have been developed:
weighting on the propensity score, Heckman’s estimator and propensity
score-matching.
For the participants in the program, the number of days up to finding a job diminishes
in 471, 446 and 467, respectively, depending on the used estimator one.
There is a consistent evidence across methods that the program evaluated reduces
the necessary time to find a job.

Portugal’s globalization and integration had positive repercussions
at the economic and social development level, but simultaneously it evidenced
regional asymmetries, demanding new explanatory models to lessen existent disparities.
Recent paradigms value the endogenous characteristics of the territory
that appear decisive of the country’s development, including the idea that regions
and local agents should identify new kinds of production organization and relationships,
thus enhancing clusters. Given that, in the Beira Interior Norte, craftwork
activities assume a relative economic and social importance, the purpose of the
present paper is to verify whether this sector acquires the cluster classification in
the region and continuously characterized this classification while potential cluster
promote and develop economic and social factors.

The purpose of this work is to find empirical evidence on the behavior
of the prices in an insular region, with a market of small size and, simultaneously,
fragmented. To that end, with consumer price data for four products of the
food and beverage group observed in the Canary Islands we study the price and
rigidity, characterized by frequency, duration and size of price changes. The main
empirical result found for these four products is that market fragmentation and the
type of establishment are important factors in explaining the price level and not
so when one wants to explain his change. In this case, the product is the decisive element in explaining the basic features of price change, not observing rigidities
either in terms of changes or establishments.

The purpose of this paper is to contribute to the debate on the role
played by universities in industrial districts, faced with a situation of change in
the competitive environment. We conduct a longitudinal study of a district with
serious problems of competitiveness, using techniques of Social Network Analysis.
The results show how the district has changed the distribution of its relational capital. In particular we detectan increasingly importance of relationships between
companies and the University, evidenced by an increase in the density of relations
between them, as well as a more central role played by university.

In Spanish literature on regional economic analysis, is quoted with
some profusion the work of Alfred Marshall. In this paper analyzes the reasons
that his work was known with some delay in Spain and why are the issues related
to territorial policy —especially topics related to industrial districts and regional
clusters— those with a greater focus has been extended.

This paper analyzes the dynamic properties of the current regional
financing system and compares them with those of its predecessor, with special
attention
to the sensitivity of each to the growth of income and population and to
the evolution of the age structure of the latter.

The current paper sets out the main determinants to emerge between
culture, perceived as an art form, and regional economic development, in a two-fold
sense: on the one hand, the impact of cultural activities on the economic development
of an area in the short and long term, and on the other, no less important,
how economic growth impacts development and changes in the cultural sector. We
also explore the spatial logic of cultural and artistic activities, which are inevitably
converging, however much we may consider that talent or cultural heritage are in
principle equally distributed. All of these analyses are framed within the sphere of
cultural economics, the analytical borders of which as a scientific discipline are
dealt with at the beginning of the paper.
